School of Special Flying, Grange Aerodrome 1917 (MSFS 2020)

22/09/25:  As part of our research for our Gosport 1870 project, the significance of Grange Aerodrome in Gosport has become clear.  In December 1916 the aerodrome became home to the newly formed "School of Special Flying", under the command of Lt Col Robert Smith-Barry.  It was Smith-Barry who designed the "Gosport Method" still used today as the basis for pilot training worldwide.  We will be reconstructing the airfield as established in 1917 to celebrate its central role in aviation history.
